About This Blog

There's a lovely scripture that was written by a shepherd boy as he worshiped the God that had made him exceedingly successful, a boy who through no merits of his own rose to power and became the most celebrated king of Israel a thousand years before Jesus Christ came on the scene--and to me his unpresuming yet undeniably influential character has served as a great source of inspiration--which is why I chose this domain name (www.ShieldOfSalvation.com) for my homepage:

2 Samuel 22:36 - "Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy gentleness hath made me great."

I believe that any success I may achieve in life--whether as a business professional or as a minister or as a simple family man--will be due to God's unmerited favor over me. It's what motivates me to excel!

I love to write and I love to speak to audiences, and I have a lot to share about the Bible, technology, academics, and parenting! I use this blog as an outlet for all that, both in Spanish and English.

As an American citizen of Caribbean heritage, I grew up partly in the Dominican Republic, my parents’ native country. Growing up Catholic there gave me a keen understanding of the virtues and faults of organized religion. I later rebelled against all its demands as a teenager. Experiencing the unique, Christian experience of becoming "saved" later in my thirties, however, deepened my appreciation for spirituality. For over a decade now I've matured in the faith and I've mingled with everyone from all Christian denominations, from Baptists to Pentecostals. My greatest desire now is to share all this evangelical experience I've acquired in the United States--particularly in Spanish with the profoundly religious Latin American community! You'll find my Spanish video messages about the grace of God here and on YouTube. I am now a firm believer in God's unmerited favor (a.k.a., His grace!) over humanity, as He came to show it in person with the very life and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Professionally, I have 20+ years of employment experience in Information Technology and six years of management in that field. I find myself often using Google.com and StackOverflow.com in order to keep up with my technical career's fast-paced growth--and I'm utterly grateful to all the hundreds of anonymous users and hackers who've helped me overcome one or another technical challenge in the field. So, with the articles I share via my Technology link on this page I'd like to give back to this wonderfully helpful online technical community.

My seven years of tutoring and teaching experience in subjects such as English, Math, and Computer Literacy, plus three years as a business college teacher of Sociology, Advertising, Marketing, Business Administration, and Office Technology... all of make me occasionally want to share my academic experience on this blog, too!

Finally my wife Carmen (a.k.a., “Kathy”) and I are raising three wonderfully rambunctious children of our own. She and I minister together, and both completed our degrees in Biblical studies at the International Victory Bible Institute. So inevitably we'll impart our knowledge of the Scriptures on our children and also share some of that here when we can!

FOCUS on The Lord

I love God so much. Every day I want to get closer to Him. I know there is so much that I’m missing out on, more that He wants to show me, and more of who He is. Something that I want to get better at is prayer. When I talk to God, I want […]

Give it all to God- The Samaritan Woman
